Lamont Stud Breeders
Here are a selection of Lamont Stud cows. A strong emphasis is placed on femininity, udder structure and milking traits, temperament and doing ability.
Mac & Gayle run approx 1000 breeders including 250 registered cows. The stud cows are run with multiple sires to prevent the single siring issues, but still follow the policy of mating the best females with the best sires. All registered males and females plus all herd bulls DNA testing to sire trace all calves to ensure correct parentage and identify traits certain bulls are throwing – good or bad within their herd. This has helped them make informed decisions.
Cows are culled that show a lack of doing ability and they elevate any cow which presents with a high constitution whilst still producing a quality weaner. The cows are on a strict fertility program, yet are still required to carry all the desirable physical attributes.
